On May 7-8, 2026, Ukrainian National Forestry University hosted the International Conference “Business, Sustainable Development and Wood Innovation (ICBSDW 2026),” organized within the framework of the international project WOODRECONSTRUCT – Wood for Sustainable and Resilient Repair and Construction – Integrating Expertise from Ukraine and Sweden. The project is financed by FORMAS (Swedish government research council for sustainable development)
The conference brought together more than 100 professionals from Ukraine, Sweden, Germany, and other European countries, including academia, representatives of state, regional and municipal adminstration, public authorities, businesses, NGOs, international organizations and research institutions.
The main objective of the event was to establish a network for cross-sectoral dialogue on the development of sustainable business, circular economy, innovations in the wood-processing industry, modern timber construction, and role of forestry sector in post-war reconstruction and recovery in Ukraine with expertise of Sweden.
Our new research product, “Strategy for Sustainable Wood Business Development in Ukraine”, which was developed within the framework of the Biomaterials Hub group activities and tested at the company level, was presented at this conference.
