The CircHive project has launched BEEHive, a new online space for exchanging knowledge, resources and ideas on biodiversity footprinting and natural capital accounting methods - two approaches that help organisations understand and improve their impacts on nature.

The BEEHive is free to join and open to any organisation or individual interested in learning how to measure and manage their impacts on nature. Members of the BEEHive will gain access to CircHive’s tools and methods, participate in capacity-building activities, stay informed about upcoming events and have a space to share their own resources or experiences.

The BEEHive is structured around four sectoral hubs, each connecting relevant businesses, cities, researchers and NGOs working on biodiversity-positive business practices. The four sectoral hubs are:

  • Biomaterials: Testing tools and approaches for biodiversity footprinting and natural capital accounting of wood-based products and other biobased materials.
  • Food & Retailers: Exploring approaches for applying biodiversity footprinting and natural capital accounting to agricultural, food and retail products.
  • Green Cities: Providing guidance and opportunities for cities to share their experiences in reporting on and improving biodiversity performance.
  • Investors: Sharing tools and approaches to help financial institutions understand how they can assess and manage nature-related impacts, dependencies and risks.

Across these hubs, the BEEHive encourages peer learning, practical exchange and cross-sector collaboration. Members can also publish their own news, events and resources to the hubs.

BEEHive has been developed as part of CircHive, a Horizon Europe project helping businesses and the public sector make more informed decisions that protect ecosystems, enhance biodiversity and unlock new opportunities for society and businesses. The BEEHive platform is hosted by Oppla, the EU Repository of nature-based solutions. News, events and resources uploaded to the BEEHive will also be shared on the Oppla platform.
